Description: The building is located several hundred meters from Lake Ontario. Every spring when the lake levels begin to rise, the building would experience water ingress from under the slab and adjacent foundation walls located in the visitor parking, interior walkways to the lobby and around the P1 level elevator lobby/shaft. The water would pool in the pedestrian areas and elevator lobby/shaft causing unsafe conditions, damage to flooring and interior finishes, and expensive damage to the elevator. Macdero Injection Services completed curtain injection on the slab on grade and adjacent foundation walls preventing water ingress through the cracks, joints and penetrations. A combination of Koster Gel G4 and Koster Gel S4 was used due to some areas having large voids/erosion due to the years of water running under the slab. Koster NB1 Grey was also applied to the adjacent foundation walls to control moisture. The 2 exterior walls of the elevator shaft, 1 meter down from the slab on grade, were also injected from inside the shaft using Koster Gel G4 and Koster NB1 Grey applied to control moisture. This work was done after the significant rise of the lake levels causing high-water pressure on the exterior of the elevator shaft. The Koster Gel G4 was successfully placed and stopped all water ingress, sealing the 3 floor below grade elevator shaft from the top.
